Olive oil recipe n°1: Moisturizer

Olive oil makes an amazing moisturizer. Don't panic! It wont clog your pores so you wont have any unwanted blemishes. I agree that sometimes it can feel heavy on your skin. This recipe will help eliminate the feeling of heavy cream on your skin.  All you need to do is mix water, olive oil and italian parsley. Water rehydrates the skin and olive oil protects the skin from  losing its own natural lubrication. Olive oil has the most similar chemical distribution to human sebum ( the body’s own natural skin lubricant). Parsley is an “antibiotic” that is thought to combat lurking germs. Water releases the parsley’s benefits and olive oil locks in the moisture.

Recipe:
Take an equal amount of extra virgin olive oil and water
For 1/4 cup of water and oil mix 1 table spoons of parsley.

This moisturizer will keep your skin feeling soft and firmer. I hope you will love it.

Olive oil a secret beauty tool

Olive oil, everyone has it on their kitchen counter. It has a lot of qualities. For many it is just another cooking oil. But it is not just any oil, it’s an ancient beauty secret. Not only is it a natural, hypoallergenic way to moisturize skin, but olive oil has the added advantage of providing strong antioxidants, like Vitamins A and E that help repair and renew skin that has been damaged from overexposure to sun, air pollution, and other modern-day environmental hazards – like cigarette smoke and fast food. These antioxidants have the natural ability to stimulate cells and return skin to a firmer, smoother, and healthier state. There are a number of simple and inexpensive ways to get the best skin care out of a single bottle of extra virgin olive oil.

Olive oil can be used as a moisturizer. It will penetrate deep into the skin and will provide long lasting moisture to keep the skin feeling smooth. It can be use as a daily moisturizer or a night cream. Some will prefer to use it on damp skin; water will help reduce any feeling of greasiness. Mixing olive oil and honey can treat blemished and blackheads. When mixed with sea salt, it becomes a great exfoliator. For a facial scrub you can try honey and sugar with olive oil. It will leave your face smooth and will reduce your breakouts. Just a drop or two of extra virgin olive oil on a cotton pad is all it takes to gently and effectively remove eye makeup without irritating the delicate skin around the eye area. The biggest added advantage is that when used consistently, olive oil can soften the skin around the eyes and smooth out wrinkles. It can be a good hand treatment. For nail and cuticles you will simply need to rub it on the area that needs it. When used on hair and scalp, olive oil can be considered two products: a deep conditioner and a dandruff controller. After shampooing, massage a mixture of equal amounts of olive oil and water into your hair. Leave it on for 5 minutes, then shampoo and rinse. Your scalp will benefit from healthy conditioning; your hair will respond with more shine and strength.

It is safe to say that extra virgin olive oil is a girl’s best friend. I will soon post recipes that will go with this short article.

Ice Cubes On Pimples

Try and catch the pimple before it fully arrives on the surface of the skin. As soon as you feel a pimple forming, ice it! Take an ice cube wrapped in saran wrap and place on the skin portion where you feel a pimple about to form. Hold it there for a few minutes.

Avoid prolonged holding as you can get frostbite skin. Perform the above steps three times daily.

This technique is effective only on newly forming pimples and rarely useful for existing pimples. This is also effective for cold sores if you freeze them as soon as you feel the tingle.

Rose Water Toner

2-3 quarts fresh roses or rose petals
Water
Ice cubes or crushed ice

Rose water is used in beauty products for its lovely scent, but it also has light astringent properties. Because it’s a light astringent, rose water is often used as toner for fair and dry skin.

In the center of a large pot (the speckled blue canning pots are ideal) with an inverted lid (a rounded lid), place a fireplace brick. On top of the brick place the bowl. Put the roses in the pot; add enough flowers to reach the top of the brick. Pour in just enough water to cover the roses. The water should be just above the top of the brick. Place the lid upside down on the pot. Turn on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil, then lower heat to a slow steady simmer. As soon as the water begins to boil, toss two or three trays of ice cubes (or a bag of ice) on top of the lid.
You’ve now created a home still! As the water boils the steam rises, hits the top of the cold lid, and condenses. As it condenses it flows to the center of the lid and drops into the bowl. Every 20 minutes, quickly lift the lid and take out a tablespoon or two of the rose water. It’s time to stop when you have between a pint and a quart of water that smells and tastes strongly like roses.

Bye Bye Black Heads Mask

2 tbs: corn flour
1 whisked egg white

Mix the flour and the whisked egg white together in a bowl. Apply it on your face. Let it sit for a minute. Clean it with a dry cloth and rinse your face with rose water. Pat your skin dry. There you go, bye bye black heads and hello soft skin! If you don't have rose water there is a recipe on my blog.
